BURNS TOWNSHIP — The Shiawassee County Sheriff’s Office is still asking for help to find the person responsible for a car-trailer crash that left a Michigan State University student with serious head injuries.

The crash occurred on Beard Road near Reed Road in Burns Township about 4 p.m. April 16. Officers say the 18-year-old female victim from Linden, originally announced as from East Lansing, was eastbound on Beard Road when a trailer being pulled by what is now described as a dark blue or black Jeep Cherokee or another type of small sports utility vehicle broke free and collided with the woman’s car.

The driver pulling the trailer fled the scene and was last seen heading south on Reed Road. The woman was transported to Hurley Medical Center for serious but non-life threatening injuries. She is now recovering at her home from serious head injuries.

Anyone with information on the accident should call the Sheriff’s Office at 743-3411.
